WELCOME TO THE OHANA PAGE!!! Check here every time you visit our web site for programming notes for "HAWAIIAN HITS LIVE!", annoucements of special programming appearing on our supplemental channels, and links to all sorts of exciting web sites that share our vision: That of using the technology of the World Wide Web for the purpose of perpetuating all things Hawaiian. Not just the music, but its Culture, Arts and Language. For a look at our Official Hawaiian Top 30, click here. It is in a .pdf file so you will need Acrobat Reader to view it. You are also encouraged to print it out on your printer for your very own personal copy. If the document appears larger than 100 percent, reduce the size before printing. IMPORTANT
NOTICE TO ALL LOCAL MUSICIANS WHOSE MUSIC WE FEATURE ON "HAWAIIAN HITS
LIVE!" We are still trying to figure out just what is going on with
the RIAA and how they relate to our operation. As of right now, we pay
royalty fees to all songwriters via ASCAP and BMI. In fact, we were the
very first internet broadcaster to enter into an agreement with these
entities back in the 90's on an experimental basis. Until we can clear
the air we must warn all artists that we do not recognize Sound
Exchange and have no agreement with them as of this date. As far as any
copyright matter, we are considered an independant station playing only
ethnic music of Hawaii. To our knowledge, no artist we play is a member
of Sound Exchange. If you are
a member of Sound Exchange and you have heard us play your music,
please notify us immediately and we will remove your recordings from
our playlist. If you are a member and if you wish to continue to be a
part of our programming, we will need written permission from you to
play your music, for our files. If you are NOT a member of Sound
exchange read on... OUR POLICY REGARDING MUSIC PLAYED ON
HAWAIIAN HITS LIVE!: As stated earlier, we pay royalty
fees to ASCAP and BMI to cover fees due the song writers of the music
featured on our station. We cannot possibly check each CD to make sure
it is an independant release so if we receive a CD from you, we have to
assume you are sending it to us because you want us to feature tracks from it
in the programming we offer to our world-wide audience. Therefore we
consider the very act of your sending
us the CD as also giving us the right
to play the CD legally, with your permission. We are a
non-profit, publically owned charity and our aim was never to make a
profit from the music, only to expose it to an audience that might not
otherwise be able to hear it via the standard broadcast channels. Our final day of broadcasting will be December 31st 2007.This is personally for me, a very sad statement to have to make. We have been a intrical part of the lives of hundreds of thousands of expatriated Hawaiians, Part-time reisdents, students studying abroad and of our local men and women serving in the armed forces overseas. I know I have made "threats" of this nature before, but believe me, this time it's for real. In a nutshell: It just costs too much. Not just in the number man hours of volunteer work it takes to run the station, but in the costs involved in keeping the broadcast station legal. It's too much for one man to handle anymore. I am also weary from begging. I don't like to beg. For awhile there, it was fun. We barely made ends meet but we made ends meet. However, over the last few years it has become less fun and more sweating bullets trying to pay the bills and for me, less and less time left over for a life. Life will go on however, as we will be keeping the web site open and working behind the scenes in hopes that there will be enough of you out there who want to hear "Hawaiian Hits Live!" again. I'd jump at a second chance to live up to all those promises I made about improving our news coverage, airing more special programming and the like. We ask that you please continue to donate what you can, when you can and we will post each contribution that comes in. (Please say so if you do not want your name mentioned.) All funds recieved will be placed in a separate checking account for the broadcast side only. When we reach our goal of 6,000 dollars we'll fire up the ol server once again... until then it's been a great ten years world! Mahalo! LD Reynolds PS: Send checks to the address listed on this page or use the convinent Pay Pal method by clicking on the "donations" button on the main page. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation and all contributions are tax deductable. |

| THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY HAS GRANTED US OUR TAX
EXEMPT STATUS AS A 501(3)(c) NON PROFIT CORPORATION. In a letter
dated September 11th, 2003 the IRS recognized
Pacific Broadcasting Service as a not for profit, community supported
entity. Our EIN is: 41-2068996. If you send us a donation you will need
the EIN number for your tax records. If you need a letter from us,
please let us know via e-mail and we will send you one promply.
TIPS ON LISTENING TO OUR BROADCASTS. The "supplemental channel" buttons will only work when we have programming available on them. We will eventually have a "Program Guide" available that will give information on what type of programs are airing and the times they are scheduled to air. For now enjoy a wide variety of music recorded right here in the islands. GRANT WRITERS WANTED! If you or someone you know is an accomplished grant writer and would like to help us raise our projected annual budget for 2007-8, call or write us for details. We are looking for volunteers who share our vision of spreading Aloha around the planet and educating its population about the Hawaiian Culture. In the process it is hoped that this will help preserve and build the Culture and allow it to take its rightful place within the World Community. As we are a young Non-profit corporation, money for operations is a rather precious commodity and fund raiser volunteers are urgently needed. Become a part of the team! Write us today! Send us e-mail at operations@voiceofhawaii.org. Our mailing address is: Pacific

We will add your name to the list. Some day we hope to have enough money left over after-budget to purchase some really cool t-shirts and maybe get a CD compilation released, when that happens, all 100 dollar club members will receive either one or both retroactively as a token of our appreciation. |

planet as more and more people move here, taking advantage of the
stable
weather, thriving economy and genuine geological beauty that makes Maui
county the most desireable place on the Earth to raise a family and
earn
